I recently tried to make a typical gif on Photoshop, but I couldn’t seem to make it work.
It’s supposed to be just a simple fading transition between 2 different images, but I just couldn’t seem to figure it out.
I looked up tutorials and came across a video where the guy advises against using photoshop to make simple gifs as it was actually more practical to just quickly google an online gif generator and use that instead.
I followed the advice and I was amazed by the result. I didn’t have to worry about anything else except to upload the 2 images I wanted to make a GIF of.
The method was simple and I was able to achieve what I wanted to do without going the extra mile for it.
There’s that saying–“Work smarter, not harder”. I don’t agree with the wording itself, but the overall message is right. Work hard, but be smart about it. You don’t have to make things harder for yourself by doing things a certain way if there is or can be a better solution for it.
This way of thinking was something I was able to apply in a lot of areas in my creative process.
As an artist, I want to put effort into making my art–but sometimes, I feel like I tend to overcomplicate how I approach certain situations. As though my art would automatically result in a better standard of quality if I were having difficulty in creating it.
That, I think, is the wrong way to look at your own work. I create art because I enjoy it. I don’t do it to judge my own capabilities.
So for the sake of my art and living my life in general, sometimes the simplest method is the best answer.
