I downloaded the app on my mom’s ipad (changed credit card info to mine of course) and it was quite nice.
It has a similar ease in its usability as the Autodesk Sketchbook app that I am currently using on my Surface Pro.
In fact, the layout reminds me more of the Sketchbook Pro app I used to use in my old Galaxy Note 10.1–which by the way, I think is still one of the best devices I ever bought.
Procreate also has way more functions–functions that I usually would have to export to Photoshop to use.
And because it’s so easy to draw on the go with–which I think is a must if you want to put most of your focus on the drawing/painting aspect of creating your art–to me, that already makes it infinitely better than Photoshop, where half or maybe even more than half of the focus of its interface goes to editing.
I also love the app’s brush collection. It’s numerous enough that you don’t really need to create/download new brushes–although you can if you wanted to.
I will still stick to using Sketchbook, of course, as that is still my mom’s ipad at the end of the day and I can still accomplish plenty with my own Surface Pro’s Sketchbook app.
Though I won’t deny that it does have me considering saving up for an ipad of my own in the future.
We’ll see.
